Bird Watching-Is for the Whole Family

Author: BirdLady March 3, 2009

By placing your feeders so that they are in view of your windows, your whole family will be able to enjoy the feeding antics of the birds.  Place bird feeders at different heights and have the bird seed easily accessible so that the younger generation can take an active part in providing for the birds.  Remember to keep your bird feeders and the ground underneath clean of old seed.  Old seed can harbor disease.

Birdbaths provide an important element for the health and welfare of our backyard friends.  Keep the birdbaths in sight of the windows and also near some trees or bushes so the birds can make a get away if they are feeling threatened. Be sure to keep the water fresh and clean to ensure the continued use by the birds.

Beautiful Outdoor Feathered Friend Feeders

Author: FeatheredFriend January 5, 2009

Anything that channels nature and promotes life is a terrific addition to any garden.  This is why a bird feeder is a well-liked outdoor ornament.  It makes a garden more alive by attracting birds, providing food, and keeping the winged creatures around.

Bird feeders are by no means few or rare.  Decorative feeders alone have many varieties and can be purchased both in stand-alone specialty stores and online.  The more superior types are made of metal, are squirrel-proof, weatherproof, and have exteriors that do not fade.  They may be long and vertical with a spiral perch or may be the more popular house-like structure with a cupola roof.  There are also small decorative bird feeders that are adorned with colorful, hand-painted designs such as leaves and flowers and have practical plastic containers for water and food.  They usually have a hook and are hung, unlike the bigger bird feeders that are positioned on the ground.
